Chef j.Black is a proud Oak Cliff native whose bold Southern-Cajun style has earned national recognition. A South Oak Cliff High School, UNT, and Dallas College Culinary alumnus, he has showcased his skills on Food Network—winning Chopped and competing on Cutthroat Kitchen.

Beyond the kitchen, Chef j.Black is a dedicated Culinary Lead Teacher and mentor, committed to developing the next generation of chefs. He’s also a proud father of three Langston, Harper and Greyson, who inspire everything he does.

At The Roux Dallas, Chef j.Black brings together his roots, creativity, and passion for flavor to create a true taste of home.
